Paula MaierPaula Maier began her website PaulasHealthyLiving.com to share her passion for staying fit, eating healthy and scheduling rest time. As a 50 year old mother of 3, she understands that it can be difficult to make healthy meals, exercise and carve out time for yourself, while constantly doing this juggling act called, life!

Healthy eating and exercising on a regular basis gives her self-confidence and personal satisfaction. She encourages readers to eat whole foods instead of processed foods that are not as nutritious because that processing removes the nutritious elements in the food. They do not help you achieve your body-shape or long-term health goals.

"When I cook my families’ food, I’m in control of the sugar, salt, and the type of oils used." said Paula.
It is difficult to resist temptations of fast foods, desserts, soda pop, and skipping workouts, but by making a commitment to your ‘best health’, you can be successful! Change your view toward healthy foods as fuel for all your systems. Take control. Educate yourself your family.

"I don’t believe any ONE PERSON has all the answers. Be open minded but critical. Be logical, but have wild-abandon. Know that baby steps begin before a sprint…and love yourself for trying!!!"

Finding alternative uses for vegetables keeps your taste buds guessing, and boosts your nutrition! Cauliflower contains sulforaphane, which acts as a antioxidant and helps detox your system utilizing enzymes.  Cruciferous vegetables are believed to lower risk of cancer due to these beneficial sulforaphanes.

Ricing or mashing cauliflower allows you to mold the Flavors you desire while still tasting like a traditional comfort food.  Tweet this recipe by adding your own preferences for spice level and ingredients.  Enjoy with pork roast, roast chicken, or baked halibut.

One of the hottest holiday gifts this year was the FitBit health tracker. My 13 year old son Nick received one and I have noticed him being more mindful of eating sugar and staying active. He said that "It's made working out and exercising fun and easy. Almost like a game, and your opponent is yourself."

Eggs; My Go-To Protein!

eggs 570540 640
Eggs have been the scapegoat and poster child for healthy living. Finally, they have been vindicated for their high levels of dietary cholesterol. In 2015, the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee recommended to lift the limits on eggs as a part of a healthy diet. I'm thrilled with this because I LOVE EGGS to provide protein, and leave me feeling full throughout my morning.

One whole egg contains 6 grams of protein, vitamin D and important minerals such as iron, zinc, chorine and lute in (for eye health).

CaloriesWe've all heard that weight-loss mantra 'Calories In, Calories out.' It certainly makes sense if weight loss is your primary goal, rather then counting the calorie values for every morsel you eat or drink that enters your lips. Calories out includes every mile you run, or weight you lift. Is that the way it has to be?

Detox- The Hip Marketing 'Buzz Word'
"Consume these flavorful, menagerie of juices from veggies and fruits in place of meals for only $60 per day and you will feel healthier!"

Ever heard something along those lines? My own daughter tried a week-long series last year. I warned her that she may experience intense feelings of anger, but she had to experience it for herself at age 20.  At the end of day 2, having bought for the whole week, she quit stating she was tired, hungry and felt angry.
