Southern California’s most prestigious theatre awards recognize MEMPHIS with seven nominations, plus OKLAHOMA!
(Thousand Oaks,CA)Cabrillo Music Theatre received eight Ovation Award Nominations for the 2014-2015 season, as announced by L.A. Stage Alliance. The Ovation Awards are the most prestigious recognitions in Southern California theatre, and the only peer-judged awards, making them comparable to Broadway’s Tony Awards. Cabrillo’s regional premiere of MEMPHIS received seven nominations, including Best Musical, Actor, Director, Choreographer, Musical Director, Costume Design, and the entire cast of 26 was nominated for Best Ensemble. Cabrillo’s recent production of OKLAHOMA! was nominated for Best Choreography. The 2015 OVATION AWARDS will take place on November 9th at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles.

July 6, 2015… Ojai, Calif…The Ojai Playwrights Conference (OPC), one of the most acclaimed new play developmental programs in the country, announces its 18th season with an extraordinary program of playwrights, new play workshops and special performance events from August 2 through 9, 2015 in Ojai, California.

image006VENTURA, CA – The streets of the city of Ventura’s historic Downtown and Westside Cultural District will transform into a mecca of artistic expression, and bring Cuban culture and history during the 22nd ArtWalk Ventura the weekend of July 18-19th.

(Ventura, CA) – At a ceremony on Monday at the Manhattan Friar's Club, Broadway stars Raul Esparza and Katie Finneran announced nominations for the New York Outer Critics' Circle Awards. Two productions from Rubicon Theatre Company in Ventura were among the nominees. LONESOME TRAVELER, written and directed by Rubicon founder James O'Neil received a nomination for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical, and WIESENTHAL, written and performed by Tom Dugan and directed by Rubicon Artistic Associate Jenny Sullivan received a nomination for Outstanding Solo Performance. The first production was presented in New York by Off-Broadway Across America at 59E59 Theatres; the latter was produced with Daryl Roth Productions at The Acorn Theatre.

Honoring Gordon Davidson for his decades of leadership in new play development in Los Angeles, and Judy Ovitz, an invaluable patron of the arts and OPC leader, the Benefit helps to fund the development of compelling new works for the American theatre.
